Garden Room and Patio Reading
Roberta wanted to utilise the space at the end of the garden of her Reading home to build a room for music, play and general relaxation away from the house. However the space was unusable to always being waterlogged.
We installed a soakaway with lane drainage to eliminate the drainage issue – a large dig out and plastic crate installed underground to help store the water, allowing it to drain away and limit the surface water.
The drainage problems were also mitigated by our thorough levelling of the earth and installation of a reinforced concrete foundation for the garden room. Parts of the job required the use of JCBs, but we were able to overcome problems with access and potential damage to the garden and lawn by laying down wooden boards to serve as a makeshift path for the heavy machinery.
In addition to the garden room we laid a new Indian sandstone patio with gravel bordering surrounding the structure to match the stone grey composite cladding of the garden room. Roberta now has a brand new, air-conditioned, sound-proofed and internet ready multi-purpose garden room with a relaxing outdoor space.
