Meet John and Jane from Binfield in Berkshire. They had, in their own words, “an extremely higgledy piggledy” courtyard made up of old, dark paving slabs interspersed with gravel. Not only did it look dated and uninviting, but the chequerboard effect made it almost impossible to balance a table and chairs on the patio.

John and Jane wanted a refined, modern patio creating an inviting area while enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the home. They were wary of take-on-any-job contractors, so had been fastidious about his research leading him to New Driveway Company.

New Driveway Company took John and Jane through our design process and drew up plans for the new patio. They were both so impressed with our approach; the couple decided to expand the project and redo the entire courtyard and paving which wrapped around the house. We recommended Indian Sandstone for its unique blend of durability, natural beauty and versatility to help transform the areas.

Having complete faith in how we worked, John and Jane then showed us a derelict out-building with a large wooden shed and asked our sister company, New Garden Room Company, to replace it with a brand-new garden gym / garden music studio. They also really appreciated our detailed design process and the fact that we use our own qualified tradespeople for each part of the project.

Our team at New Garden Room Company built a fully insulated, 30-square-metre garden room with space for the family’s gym and music equipment. We dug a trench to take the electrics and Cat6 ethernet from the house and fitted a few garden room extras; an aircon unit (crucial for gym use in the summer) and a heater (for cosy jamming sessions in the winter). The room was then finished with warm wooden flooring and crisp white paint with the natural beauty of the warm cedar cladding blending seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.

John, Jane and family are absolutely delighted with their transformed outside space, both functional and beautiful. Their bulky gym equipment is now out of way, freeing up space in their house for a lovely family room which is also proving popular with labrador, Lennon.

The finish was excellent, especially the quality of the grouting and the care they took over levelling. You really do get what you pay for.

They went out of their way to deliver something we would be really pleased with. We knew we could trust them to do the additional work. The new patio has transformed the place. Everyone who sees it says it looks so much bigger. It’s gone from a trip hazard to a great entertainment area that enhances the value of our house.

And the garden room is so nice. It’s surprisingly well insulated and sound-proofed – we can make as much racket as we want on our guitars! Darren and his team went over and above to make sure we were looked after and really happy. Nothing was impossible – they have a great team of professional specialists who know how to get the job done.”
