European Oak Cladding
Oak is a traditional cladding material, due to an excellent level of durability, particularly compared to other temperate hardwoods. European Oak has a distinctive grain with annual growth rings visible. Quarter cut boards will have distinct silver grain figure due to the broad rays. Generally straight grained, hard wearing and durable, Oak is a very attractive cladding solution. There are relatively few knots in the wood and it has attractive figuring, perfect for a clean contemporary look.
- Appearance: Yellowish to golden brown, ages to silver grey if left unprotected.
- Durability Classification: Class 2 according to BS EN 350-2
- Density: 720 Kg/m3 at a moisture content of 18%
- Dimensional Stability: Excellent
- Environmental: PEFC Certified
- Grade: QF-2
- Lengths: 1.8m to 4.0m
- Finishing: Accepts application of stains and paints.
Siberian Larch Cladding
Siberian Larch is a very resinous wood making it durable and ideal for external cladding. The clearly defined annual rings create attractive figuring. The colour of Siberian Larch can vary from a dark brown to a pale yellow. Larch is very slow grown and has a high durability factor for a softwood species. Due to its high density, Larch cladding is perfect where impact may occur.
- Appearance: Consistent colour: creamy yellow brown. Slowly grown with tight straight grain. distinct grain pattern. Fine texture. Live inter-grown knots similar to those in pine.
- Durability Classification: Durable – in cladding use, Class 3. Service life 50-100 years. Timber contains natural fungicide arabinoglactan.
- Dimensional Stability: Good
- Environmental: FSC Certified
- Grades: Sawfalling I-IV (maximum 60% IV) Maximum 15% sapwood
- Finishing: Accepts application of stains and paints
Western Red Cedar Cladding
Western Red Cedar offers a variety of colours from red to brown, yellow and pink. Cedar is slow grown, naturally durable and has one of the longest life spans of any North American softwood. It produces long lengths of clear timber with true, straight grain and is known for its naturally occurring resistance to moisture, decay and insect damage. Cedar is lightweight, easy to finish, stain and work with. Its natural durability, dimensional stability and exceptional beauty make Western Red Cedar ideal for exterior cladding.
- Appearance: Predominantly reddy-brown, but ranges from creamy yellow to dark brown
- Durability Classification: Durable – Class 2. Service life expectancy is 60 years as cladding when free from sapwood
- Dimensional Stability: Excellent – among the worlds most stable timbers
- Grades: No. 2 Clear & Better / No. 2 Clear with 15% No 4 / No. 4 Clear & Better
- Thickness: 22mm 25mm 44mm 50mm 100mm 150mm 300mm
- Finishing: Accepts application of stains and paints
Lunawood Cladding
Lunawood is made with a thermal modification process that uses high temperature and steam, so it’s completely natural, chemical free and can be safely burned or recycled after its long service. It has a darker brown tone and it’s durability and stability are improved significantly.
- Species: Scandinavian Pine and Spruce
- Appearance: Consistent colour of deep chocolate brown. Slowly grown with tight straight grain. Consistent colour throughout the thickness of the timber. Fine texture. Live inter-grown knots, free from pitch and resin.
- Durability Classification: Durable – Class 2. BRE accredited service life of 30 years in cladding.
- Dimensional Stability: Excellent
- Environmental: PEFC Certified
- Grade: Centre-cut – live knot A/B quality
- Finishing: Accepts application of stains and paints. Provides very stable substrate. Coating recommended in outdoor applications.
